About:
Florence and the Machine (stylised as Florence + the Machine) are an English indie pop band, consisting of lead singer Florence Welch and a collaboration of other artists who provide backing music. Florence and the Machine's sound has been described as a combination of various genres, including rock and soul. The band's music received praise across the music media, especially from the BBC, before they gained mainstream success. Specifically, the BBC played a large part in their rise to prominence by promoting Florence and the Machine as part of BBC Introducing. The band's debut album, Lungs, was released on 6 July 2009, and held the number-two position for its first five weeks on the UK Albums Chart. On 17 January 2010, the album reached the top position, after being on the chart for twenty-eight consecutive weeks. As of October 2010, the album had been in the top forty in the United Kingdom for sixty-five consecutive weeks, making it one of the best-selling albums of 2009 and 2010. Lungs won the MasterCard British Album award at the 2010 BRIT Awards. At the 53rd Grammy Awards, Florence and the Machine were nominated for Best New Artist. Additionally, the band performed at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, and the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Concert. The group's second studio album, Ceremonials, released in October 2011, debuted at number one in the UK and number six in the US.

For Immediate Release – January 23, 2012 – (New York, NY) – On the heels of the November release of the stunning CEREMONIALS CD, one of 2011's most critically acclaimed albums, Florence & The Machine are heading to the states for a 15 city tour presented by MSN that begins on April 14th at the Santa Barbara Bowl with stops at Coachella (April 15 and 22) and one show at New York's Radio City Music Hall (May 8), it was announced today by her record label Universal Republic.
With recent appearances on Saturday Night Live, GMA, X-Factor, The View, VH 1 Divas and Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve, Florence fans will at last get to enjoy the star in a triumphant return to the live stage. Florence & The Machine are expected to perform songs from CEREMONIALS as well as songs from her multi-platinum debut album LUNGS. Florence & The Machine will also be appearing on an upcoming MTV Unplugged and Austin City Limits on January 28th.
Her April/May tour follows her last appearance in the US, which included sold out dates at Summerstage and the Greek in LA as well as the Bonnaroo Music Festival and four stadium shows with U2. "As our goal is to 'keep you in the know' about what's happening in your world, supporting the tour is a natural fit," said Rob Bennett, partner of network programming for MSN.
CEREMONIALS, recorded at the famed Abbey Road Studios and produced by Paul Epworth (Adele) was released in the US on November 1st and debuted on the Billboard Top 100 Charts at No. 6. It receivedglowing reviews including Four Stars (****) from Rolling Stone, US Magazine, NY Post and scores of other publications. It was on a slew of Top Ten Best Albums including Time, Entertainment Weekly and People. Amongst the raves: "Like Them (U2), Florence and the Machine are a true band, who channel garage-rock camaraderie into a huge, lashing sound more fit for an Olympian mountain peak than a garage. And like U2, Florence and the Machine are fronted by a singer with the pipes, and the shamelessness, to pull off the melodrama – to turn the ridiculous into the sublime," Rolling Stone. "A bold, epic album of rare transcendence," commented US Magazine…"A star at the ascent of her rise," Newsweek. "Stunning sophomore effort. Florence sings as sweetly as a nightingale," NY Post.
Nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist and an MTV Video of the Year Award with unforgettable performances on 2010's MTV Video Music Awards, the Grammys and the Academy Awards, Florence Welch is poised to cast her spell as she dances across US concert stages.

Description
SANTA BARBARA BOWL, SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA
About the Bowl:
Nestled in the hillsides above Santa Barbara, the Bowl is a premier example of 1930s WPA outdoor Craftsman-style architecture and melds decades of music and vistas in ways no other open-air venue in America can.
In 1995, the Bowl Foundation voted unanimously to create a comprehensive, long-range restoration and renovation Master Plan. By 2007, over $22mm had been contributed to the capital campaign for significant improvements to Santa Barbara’s beloved Bowl – improvements designed to protect the venue’s early 20th century grace while placing it firmly on 21st century underpinnings.
Although the new facilities resulting from this monumental renovation project – the soaring new stage housing: the Pavilion; the Wendy McCaw Terrace for donor receptions; a permanent, disabled seating platform; better facilities and more amenities for performers and patrons including upgraded dressing rooms and enlarged and improved restroom facilities – are first-class and in keeping with the distinctive architectural style, the “American Classic” campaign is not about cosmetics. Every element is necessary not only to maintain the Bowl’s place as one of America’s finest outdoor concert venues – in a league with the Hollywood Bowl, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and Washington D.C.’s Wolf Trap – but also to continue to attract top-tier, world-class artists by keeping up with changing industry standards.
The next elements to be funded by the American Classic renovation and restoration campaign are:
The Glen – Beautifying the wooded Glen.
The Overlook – An upper-level terrace with concessions and restrooms.
Seating – Upgraded patron seating.
Expanded Box Office and Lower Plaza – Facilities including improved traffic and entry areas.
